ALGGEN is the acronym for the Algorithmics and Genetics Group, part of the Theoretical Computer Science Group in the Software Department (LSI) of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) and part of ALBCOM Research Group.

ALGGEN is dedicated to research and teaching in the area of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and this site is the virtual laboratory that contains the bioinformatic tools designed by the group. This tools are developed jointly in collaboration with "in lab" research groups in genetics of other centers. Our aim is the design of software tools that allow them to work "in silico".

• GenExp: a web-based visualisation tool that interactively explore our genomic data base.


• M-GCAT: interactive comparative genomics tool well suited for quickly generating multiple genome comparisons and alignment frameworks among closely related bacterial species.


• PROMO: virtual laboratory for the identification of putative transcription factor binding sites (TFBS) in DNA sequences from a species or groups of species
